Thoughts on Religion

Darkmoon's Rants #6

This is one that has gotten to me as of late, and though it's shit that's been said time and again, I feel like doing a small bit of rehashing... then I'll get onto other stuff.

What is it with people feeling the need to beat each other over the head with their religion? It's not like anyone that isn't a part of Christianity doesn't know all about it. That's what Christmas specials and Charlton Heston movies are for. But no, these people see that you're not a Christian, and apparently are brain washed into believing that they have to convert every person they meet that isn't one of them.

And it's not just Christians converting Jews. I've seen people of different DENOMINATIONS of Christianity trying to convert each other. They both believe in Jesus, so what the fuck? Is believing or not believing in Saints, or the Uber power of baptism, or that people should get the 8th day after the 3rd Sunday in Febluberry off so they can eat too much and watch football really that important?

Really, it just irks me cause all I ever hear is that what I believe, since it's not what they believe, is not important and is "stupid" or "insane" (recent words that my spirituality has been called). And in the mean time, I'm simply stating what I believe because I was asked, and trying just to make them aware I'm not one of them and will never be one of them because it doesn't work for me, not that I think their beliefs are wrong for them. I mean, I though there was a love each other and live and let live policy to Christianity... Jeez.

But, enough about that... Let's talk Fast Food. I know, radical departure, but I just felt like something random here.

When I bite into a nice Quarter Pounder, I expect a good bite of beef, processed cheese food, and maybe some veggies and sauce that are trying to be veggies and sauce and not artificially produced imports from the planet Neptune. But no, what I get is a goodly bite of grease. I actually have to open up my sandwich and use a napkin to sop it all up. How is that food? I'm not even going to ask how it's healthy, I just wanna know how they expect me to digest it at all.

And I'm not singling out Mickey D's. I'm just using them as an example. BK, Hardies, and to a lesser extent Wendy's and Arby's are guilty of this. They give use grade N meat and expect us to call it food. I call it a very solid, if tasty, brick in my stomach... and yet I'm irresistibly drawn to it. The shit is tasty.

Really, I smell a set of fries or a Spicy Chicken sandwich and just have to get one. It's like they fucking cook them in the cocaine and oil. I keep expecting to go through withdrawal if I don't get a greasy set of fries once a week.

One day, I expect my arteries to simply say "fuck it" and take the day off when I'm halfway into a burger and fries, and then where will I be?
