Cagematch, Worf vs Wookie
Darkmoon's Rants #74
This was spawned by a stupid conversation I had on a break at Lone Star We were watching Spike TV, home of the hours and hours of Next Generation reruns. The guy I was hanging with is a huge TNG fan, and so, at some point, he posed the question of "who would win in a fight, Worf or Chewbacca?"
Have you ever had one of those questions posed to you? If you know anything about any character ever mention in one of these questions, you can't help but start thinking of a reply. It's automatic. Something in us, at the genetic level, wants to go "Batman would totally kick Green Lantern's ass..." or something to that effect.
So it was that two days later, I'm still pondering that dumb question. Who would win? Well, I have to answer it now, so I shall subject all of you to my answer:
Chewbacca
Chewie has a couple of serious advantages. He's huge, taller even than Worf, and he's strong. He's definitely evolved down through history as bug strong dude capable of eating faces and taking names. His reach alone could make any fight an unfair one. Unarmed especially he'd pose quite formidable, although he is also pretty good with a blaster, so if we allow for weapons, he'd still be good to go.
Worf
Worf isn't nearly as tall as Chewie, and while strong, having never been put to this sort of test before, I'd have to say probably not as strong either. He does have that whole Klingon defense system though. Head plating and multiple organs and backup systems built into his body make him hard to take down. He's also very well trained in unarmed and hand to hand combat. We'd have to take it as a given in an armed match Worf would end up bringing in a phaser and one of those Klingon swords or daggers. He would be quite deadly armed with those.
Decision
It comes down, in the end, to training. While Chewie has the strength and reach advantage, Worf's sheer training would balance that out and give him the slightest of advantages back over the Chew-ster. I give this match to Worf.
Now I must find something far less geeky to do with my time.
